There is plenty of optimism these days in Redondo Beach mainly due to the recent groundbreaking for the Shade Botique Hotel on the waterfront. This will be the official kickoff for the re-making of the Redondo Beach waterfront renovation and modernization. The Shade Hotel is being constructed at 655 No. Harbor Drive and will consist of 54 well appointed rooms and a special events center. The complex will feature a rooftop pool, bar and restaurant and the special events center will feature a ballroom, lounge and roof deck that will overlook the water, and hold up to 200 people. The Shade Hotel is expected to open on November 18, 2015, and is expected to pump at least $600,000 a year into the city coffers. The city is in the beginning stages of a $200 million waterfront renovation plan.
According to the Mayor: “It’s going to be the best addition to the waterfront in years,” he said.
“It is a beautiful building and a great concept and will attract high end tourists to the city and will attract the locals down to the bars and restaurants.” The developer said that the Shade Hotel will have very spacious rooms, and each will have a view of the ocean and a separate living room as well. When the Hotel is completed, most amenities will be furnished as part of the cost of the room. Guest services will range from access to a nearby gym and beach cruiser bicycles and also free internet service among the other modern and convenient amenities.
