Manhattan Beach, California represents Los Angeles beach living. Resting on the coast in the southeasterly part of the Santa Monica Bay, just north of Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. It is located about 22 miles southwest of Los Angeles and just a few miles south of LAX.
The town itself overlooks the blue Pacific Ocean and local icon the Manhattan Beach pier. The homes along the beach are grand and very upscale.
Inland a little are several nice neighborhoods with homes less expensive but still very upscale.
The town is basically divided in two sections; west of Sepulveda Blvd. and east of Sepulveda Blvd. The west area of town is like the other beach towns along the California coast with homes sitting on streets sloping down toward the ocean, or facing the ocean.
This is where the town itself sits, with its shopping areas, library, city hall, bars and entertainment places and great places to eat. The beach is about two miles long and is always in use by swimmers, surfers, volleyball players and sunbathers taking advantage of the year around excellent weather.

The east side of town has a Country Club and a golf course, a gated private upscale community with wonderful homes sitting on tree lined streets. In this area are more shopping centers, restaurants, office complexes, fitness centers and retails stores. The Manhattan Beach Studios are also located in the east part of town.
The newest television and film production facility in Southern California, Manhattan Beach Studios, is the first studio built from the ground up in California in 60 years. The 550,000 square foot project consists of fourteen art deco sound stages, office space, and related facilities. The first phase is complete and is being leased by 20th Century Fox, with the TV show “The Practice.” Other popular shows are also being filmed on a regular basis at the studios.
The Manhattan Beach Unified School District serves the area and all schools consistently rank in the 90th percentile range. Due to diligent planning and the allocation of resources, the students in Manhattan Beach enjoy the finest education available anywhere. The neighborhoods in Manhattan Beach are known as the “Tree Section”, “Hill Section”, “Sand Section”, “Manhattan Village”, “Liberty Village”, “Heights”, and “East Manhattan.” The North Manhattan Beach neighborhood known more commonly as “The Tree Section” to local residents is located just west of Sepulveda Blvd. The Tree Section is regarded by many as one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Manhattan Beach to raise a family.
